Creating resilience through science
Welcome to a space where science, solidarity, and community-engagement meet.
About our lab
We are a research lab grounded in the belief that access to food, water, and energy is essential for both human health and collective resilience—especially in the face of increased weather events and deepening inequality.
Led by Dr. Anaís Delilah Roque, our lab brings together social science research, community knowledge, and public health to better understand how people and communities in Puerto Rico and beyond are impacted by environmental disruptions—and how they care for themselves and each other in response.
The lab is also a dynamic training ground for undergraduate and graduate students who contribute meaningfully to every stage of our work—from research design and data collection to community engagement and public dissemination. Dr. Roque takes an intentional, equity-centered approach to mentoring the next generation of scholars, cultivating skills in ethical, community-engaged research that is both academically rigorous and socially responsive. Through hands-on experience and collaborative learning, our students become thoughtful, committed contributors to the work of advancing environmental and health wellbeing.
